PLUMSTEAD BASEBALL
Explanation of Fundraising Programs
Bon Ton Care-To-Share Day Fundraiser (100% Mandatory; but minimal)
Your league participated in this event in October 2002, June 2003, and November 2003 and over $1,500 was raised for our Financial Aid Fund to assist those in financial need enroll in our programs. This fundraiser has been a success in the past so if The Bon Ton hosts future events then your league will participate in those events. If there is a Care-To-Share Day scheduled during our season then participation is REQUIRED for all league members. Each parent will be given two coupon books (worth $5 each) a few weeks before the Care-To-Share Day sale date and each parent must return these two books, or $10, within one week after the date. That is it! No one is required to sell, or even attempt to sell, the two coupon books. If parents want to just receive the two books, store them in their car, and return them the week after the sale that is fine. Certainly we hope that our members attempt to sell, and do sell, some coupon books since 100% of the proceeds goes to our financial aid fund. Since this fundraiser is the league's ONLY required fundraiser, and the level of participation required is minimal at best, the league will very likely take action against those teams who do not comply. Teams in the Minor Prep, Minor, and Major Divisions who do not comply shall be ineligible for playoff games.
eScrip (Genuardi's) (100% Optional; but extremely easy so please participate)
Last year we enrolled the league in the eScrip fundraising program. This program offers cash awards to charities when customers, who have been registered as Supporters of that charity, purchase items from numerous retailers. We only participate and register our league members with Genuardi's / Safeway stores. Your league receives approximately $125 per month from just the 68 parents who have given us their Genuardi's Club Card # to register. There is no cost to our members and we typically receive approximately 1% for each purchase our members make when using their Genuardi's Club Card. Some organizations receive over $50,000 per year from this program because all their members register and their members get their friends, relatives, and neighbors to register as well. Our revenue potential from this program is at least 10 times its current level but we need a few parents to volunteer to rejuvenate it. Registering supporters is very easy; we just need a name, address, and Club Card #. Email kenny.bauer@plumsteadbaseball.org for additional information. Thank you! (Also, you probably did not know that you could donate your car to Plumstead Baseball through eScrip and receive a charitable tax deduction!)
Car Washes at Kmart & Other Fundraisers (Mandatory, if applicable)
Suburban One Travel Teams (8-13) and Cal Ripken Tournament Teams (8-12)
The Board of Directors has mandated that these optional travel and tournament teams be self-sufficient and not receive a direct allocation of league general funds. Accordingly, these teams are 100% dependent upon player registration fees, sponsorships, and fundraisers. Any fundraisers run by these teams go towards the expenses of these teams and reduce the player registration fees. Since the parents of these players receive the full and direct benefit if a car wash, or any other fundraisers, occur in 2004 participation is highly encouraged and may be mandatory. What events are held and how they are conducted will be determined by your league's Vice President and Travel Team Director, Art Ehlo , in consultation with each team's head coach and active parents and assistant coaches.
Connie Mack Division Fundraisers(Participation To-Be-Determined)
Last year a car wash was scheduled but cancelled at the last minute due to r---. (We cannot even think that "r" word for another season.) Due to the higher costs associated with playing ball with older players there may be fundraising events during the year, probably for capital improvements at the Bergstrom Road field. (Batting cage, bullpens, etc.) All money raised would directly benefit the Connie Mack division. Participation will be determined by the Connie Mack Directors, Kathy Mangione and Dave Bleam.
Golf Tournament (100% Optional)
Several have requested and proposed one but your league needs organizers.
League-Wide Parents Pot Luck Dinner, with or without an Auction
Obviously optional. A wonderful idea and it would likely be as, or more, enjoyable than profitable, but your league needs organizers.
All Other Ideas
Ditto.
