Financial Aid Program...

Plumstead Baseball has created a financial aid committee. This committee coordinates with the school counselors at Gayman Elementary, Groveland Elementary, and Tohickon Middle School to award partial or full, as funds allow, grants to those in financial need. Players who do not attend those 3 schools are also eligible and applications would be made directly to the Financial Aid Committee. For further information please contact Craig Davis.

Home Run Derby - Postponed!

phillies_hr_headersluggerIt's back!! The most fun you can have on a Saturday in May! Plumstead Baseball will once again host the Phillies Home Run Derby. This contest is free to all Plumstead Baseball players from age 7 through 15 regardless of their Division. The kids get 10 "strikes" pitched by machine and give it their best shot. Points are awarded based on distance and the distances are adjusted by age group.

Saturday, May 10 Postoned - Stay Tuned
at our Deep Run Road Fields
Registration at 8:30AM - Start at 9AM

This is a "competition" with the winners going on at a later date to compete further with the ultimate competition before a Phillies game at Citizen's Bank Park.  While it is technically a competition, it is a lot of fun and just about every kid ends up with an ego boosting wack or two.  After the winners receive their award, all the kids are elgible to win lots of prizes including Phillies tickets.  Winners are chosen through a random drawing of all the registered participants.  So, bring your "Star" to the field on Saturday for a truly unique and fun experience.

You can read up on the rules and history of the derby on the Phillies website. In a nutshell, the competion is as follows:

• Competition is broken into three age levels; 7-9 years old, 10-12 years old and 13-15 years old for both baseball and softball
• Batters receive one practice swing and 10 competition swings. Since a pitching machine is used, every pitch should be the same. However, there are times that a pitch is either too high or too low and this is determined by the Home Run Derby operator. If this happens, the batter receives another pitch.
• Batters are awarded points for each swing and the distance of each hit. Distances differ by age group.

See you at the field!!

SpyWare Got You Down?

SpyWare, malware, adWare, whatever the vehicle, it can cause a great deal of problems and may even render your computer useless. Does your "home" page change when you go online? Do you have new search toolbars or other icons and things on you web browser? You may be infected with SpyWare.

I have received many calls for help with this ever increasing problem. I recommend two FREE programs. AdAware from a company called Lavasoft, and Spybot Search and Destroy from Safer Networking.

Go here for more information on this nasty problem and some reviews of Spyware removal and prevention software. MORE>>>
